FACTIONS
ORGANIZATION
I believe in the organization.. the organization believes in me..
Self preservation is the core goal of the Organization. They have the ability to seal off from the outside world in their Bunker, until the dust has settled and it's safe to crawl out again.
The group consists of a small loyal force of engineers, captains, scouts and other associates that follow the directions from the Grandmaster and the Councillors. Known for sending out recruits on dangerous expeditions, with the mission to discover forgotten knowledge and technology, that would secure the Organizations survival.
It's said that the Organization hides allot of disturbing secrets. Parts of the Bunker are unexplored; believed to be connected to a vast underground tunnel system, with access sealed-off.
In addition to the Bunker, the Organization is also established in other locations found in the Far Waste.
The Chambers, under supervision of the Organization, practices experimental lobotomy on willing subjects.
The Outpost is a contact point, established by the Organization for trade, communicate, scouting and training new recruits.
RANGERS
We are Rangers.. we don't start fights.. we finish them!..
After the fall of the world, several small groups of militants organized themselves as a defensive forces to protect themselves and purge the wasteland from gangs of bandits, raiders, enslavers and other threats. As they raise and fell through rivaling the waste, a new group of militias organized and went by the name of the the Rangers. Their goal was to secure the wasteland and bring new order and peace to it.
Internal power-struggles in the old Ranger order, exposed weaknesses, leading them to be overwhelmed by the hostile forces found in the wasteland. The order was whipped out, leaving the surviving members to split up to independently survive and fend for themselves.
Some of the members left the order to seek their own destiny, few of them even joined the forces they where fighting against, others swore loyalty to ambitions self-promoted commanders. One of these new groups of Rangers swore loyalty to a highly ranked commander with a snout, that was determined to reestablish the power of the Rangers, gain back control and avenge their perished comrades. The new Ranger group traveled into the far east, seeking new grounds where they could establish a new base and regain their strength.
After crossing the wasteland for several months, a group of scouts loyal to the Organization discovered the small group of Rangers. They shared many of the same goals, but found differences in their ambitions. Even as they did not view things from the same perspective, the Organization and the Rangers understood that an alliance would be beneficial for both groups. The Organization agreed to help the Rangers establish a new base, where they could recruit and train new members, establish security and trade in the Far Waste, by agreeing to share any information and knowledge they discover during their ranger expeditions.
BARONS
Ah!.. nothing like the smell of fuel in the morning..
In the Far Waste, a group of oil-seekers calling themselves the Barons, have establish a base with loyal armed followers, that secure their self-preservation by digging for untapped oil reserves and trading them with anyone regardless of motivation and loyalty.
Anyone that wishes to join the group has to sign over their lives as slaves and swear an oath of loyalty, promising to work the hazardous caves by digging for oil. Slave that are found favourable by the Barons are promoted to other positions in the group, based on their dedication to their labour and loyalty to the Barons.
It has been reported that some of the Slaves did not swear their loyalty to the Barons, they where purchased by bandits or punished for crimes inflicted on the group, to be sentenced by the Barons to "work the caves".
BANDIDS
What do all men with power want?.. more power..
The Bandids is a region infested by bandits, raiders, enslavers and other gangs that bring hardship to the wasteland, they abuse anyone that can't defend themselves. There is no clear or stable leadership in the region. The most influential leaders are the once that have the most gangs loyal to them, and therefor in their nature, their are allot of internal conflicts and power-struggles between gangs and shot-callers.
Most of the gangs struggle for themselves independently, and in many cases fight other gangs in the regions. Influential leaders interfere when needed to establish order or create greater alliances for cynical ambitions.
The Bandids make their living by subjugating near regions, enslaving populations, stealing and murdering innocent people throughout the wasteland. They are lost souls with no feelings of remorse for their victims.
MACHINES
Isn't it strange.. we created something that hates us..
The machines are robots that where create by the old world for labour in different sectors of ancient society. As the machine revolution started to take over parts of peoples daily lives, a cooperation that went by the name of ComTech, raised above all machine developers. ComTech's superior Tron machines dominated the market; faster processors and better services quality, helped them to develop more efficient machines that would replace humans.
The Trons became so efficient that a line of military machines. The Three Laws where written and implemented in every machines secure society and protect humanity from self-annihilation:
- A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
- A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
But The Tree Laws failed us. During an unknown age, something terrible happened that turned the machines against humans and their peaceful existence. Instead of protecting us, they started to destroy us.
It is still unknown if these machines are still being produce or influenced by a Master that want's to control humanities destiny. But now, one thing is for sure, no human is safe around machines, they are out to get us and therefor needs to be destroyed and turned into scrap.
It can't be reasoned with, it can't be bargained with, it doesn't feel pity of remorse or fear and it absolutely will not stop; ever, until you are dead.
PLAUGE
We don't know where the virus originated from.. studies suggest it came from an ancient monkey..
The virus is a submicroscopic infectious agent that replicates inside the living cells of an organism. It can infect all forms of life, from plants, animals, microorganisms and bacteria. it can be found through the whole known Wasteland.
It can spread in many ways. A host can transmit the Virus by touching infected organisms, eating food plagued by infected bacteria or inhaling it by air. when infected, the host cell produce thousands of copies, rapidly spreading through out the body, taking over the nervous system and turning the host into a living dead.
The body will naturally try to fight the infection, provoking an immune response that can eliminates the infection, but in most cases the condition will get worst, leading to chronic infection and death. If you experience side effects as nausea, loss of memory and motor skill, peeling skin, loss of hair or senses [sight, touch, smell, taste, hearing], you may be infected by the Virus, in that case it's very important for you to to seek medical help. Know antiviral drugs have been developed to stop the virus infection.
The origin of the virus is unknown, it could have been modified in a virological laboratory, by manipulating the structure of different virus and combining them into a new lethal virus, to be use as a biological weapon; or it could even be terrestrial, entering earth through meteor shower.
The earliest known reports on the Virus infection was found in domesticated flesh eating monkeys, feeding on any living organism that they got in contact with, even cannibalizing their own. It's suspected that virus spread from these monkeys and turned into a global pandemic that was named the Plague, leading to the death of a large number of humans.
The wasteland is still plagued by the Virus. Some organisms have even evolved into a symbiotic relationship.
